Designing a Home for Pets

kilmer-2

For many of our clients, home is where the pets are- so we include them in our designs too! Here are 5 easy tips if you want to design a pet friendly haven in your house:

1️⃣ Choose Durable Fabrics 🛋️: Opt for pet-friendly fabrics like microfiber, leather, and outdoor fabrics. Tightly woven fabrics are great, also consider using darker, textured or patterned fabrics to hide dirt and pet hair- and one of our favorite tips: match your fabric to your dog or cat! These materials are durable, easy to clean, and less likely to trap pet hair. Consider slipcovers that are machine washable for a quick refresh.

2️⃣ Create Designated Pet Zones 🐕: Designate specific areas for your pets with comfortable beds or cozy mats. This helps establish boundaries and provides them with a sense of their own space. A stylish pet bed in a corner or a designated cozy nook can be a perfect retreat.

3️⃣ Opt for Pet-Friendly Flooring 🏡: Choose flooring that is resistant to scratches and easy to clean. Hardwood floors or LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) are great options. If carpet is a must, go for stain-resistant and low-pile carpets that are easier to maintain.

4️⃣ Incorporate Stylish Storage for Pet Essentials 🐾: Keep pet essentials organized by integrating stylish storage solutions. Consider built-in cabinets or shelves to store toys, treats, and grooming supplies. This keeps your space clutter-free while ensuring everything your pet needs is easily accessible.

5️⃣ Add Indoor Plants Safe for Pets 🌿: Introduce pet-safe indoor plants to bring a touch of nature into your home. Some examples include spider plants, Boston ferns, or pet-friendly succulents. Make sure to research plants that are non-toxic to your furry friends.

Transform your space to create a functional, stylish and pet-friendly environment that everyone in the family can enjoy!
